Cape Fear River Supporters Needed !!

October 2, 2007 7:00pm

At

Coastline Convention Center

Cape Fear River Watch Inc members and supporters are urged to join CFRW staff and board members on Oct 2 at 7:00pm at the Coastline Convention Center to help change current stormwater rules for North Carolina. Visible attendance and support at the meeting we help demonstrate our contempt for current stormwater practices and begin to shed light on new updated recommendations for stormwater practices. Cape Fear River Watch Inc in cooperation with Coastal Federation and other local environmental organizations have made the following recommendations:

Ø Effective stormwater controls for development that will have more than 12 % built upon area near shellfish(SA) waters and 24 % elsewhere

Ø Stormwater permits for developments that disturb more than 10,000 sq ft

Ø 50-foot natural vegetative buffer along all waterways

Ø Developments near shellfish(SA) waters control runoff from one-year,24 hour storm(3.5 inch rain event)

Please attend the New Hanover County hearing to voice your concerns for healthier waterways in our county and state. When signing in please note that you are in support of the new legislation.
